Old Collegians Life Membership

Our College Old Collegians’ Association have this year initiated a delightful new tradition of honouring staff who have served 10 years or more with the College. Recipients were presented with a commemorative badge at an after-school function in the Middle Years Centre last Wednesday, 13 August.

The Junior School was very well represented, with nine staff receiving this honour. Many have given over 10 years of service, which equates to well over 140 collective years of dedication to the College. Congratulations to Bernadette Milich, Bec Cameron, Penny Callinan, Anne Kristin Christie, Bernadine Kelvy, Valetta Bolton, Sharon Kelly, Natalie Povey and Stephen Nelson.

Father's Day Breakfast/Footy Colours/Magic of Myrniong

This year, we will host our Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday, 5 September, and combine this event with our Footy Colours Day and the Magic of Myrniong, where students from other schools can join us for the day to experience the welcoming and vibrant culture of the Junior School. We look forward to seeing many ELC and Junior School fathers and special people join us for breakfast, resplendent in their footy colours.

School Netball Championships

Yesterday, our Junior School Year 6 representative team competed in the Netball Victoria Primary School Championships at Pedrina Park. Our team consisted of Patrick McDonald (captain), Elsie Dyer, Alice MacDougall, Tommy Brown, Arya Bourchier, Ed Whinney, Lachie Sweeney, Scarlett Hawker, Matilda Mercer and Nate Weilbaecher.

These players warmly welcomed their senior coach for the day, Emily Langley. Emily was impressed with their enthusiasm, teamwork, positive play and ball skills, commenting on how well they listened to instruction and coaching feedback. Unfortunately, our one loss for the day was enough to see us just pipped at the post for top honours.

Thank you to Mrs Sharon Kelly for coaching the children at school in the lead up to this event, and to Emily Langley for donating her time and expertise to guide and mentor our players on the day. It was a wonderful experience for all.

Mrs Louise Patterson
