Whole School Happenings

Book Week

Book Week is fast approaching (August 16th to 23rd) and we have some exciting things planned for the week! The theme for this year is 'Book an Adventure'. The artwork is designed by Jess McGeachin, featuring a whimsical map to inspire young readers to explore the worlds that books open up.

To celebrate Book Week at Bimbadeen we will have a daily activity.

Monday: Our teacher's will share their favourite book with their class.

Tuesday: We invite our students to bring their favourite book to share with their class.

Wednesday: Some of our teachers will be reading their favourite books in the library during lunch time 1 & 2. Make sure you come along to listen!

Thursday: We will be hosting a Book Week parade in the gym at 9:15am. Come dressed up as your favourite book character and we invite all families to come along to celebrate with us!

Friday: Some of our student leaders will be reading their favourite books in the library during lunch time 1 & 2. Make sure you come along to listen!

We can't wait to celebrate Book Week at Bimbadeen!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your student's classroom teacher.

Policy Updates Now Available on Our Website

Our Student Learning Sub-Committee, a branch of School Council, has been working diligently to review and update a range of school policies. This dedicated group plays a key role in shaping our school’s curriculum and policy development.

The latest updated policies are now available to read on our school website.

The updated policies are:

  • Yard Duty and Supervision
  • Camps and Excursions
  • Curriculum Framework
  • Preventing and Addressing Racism
  • Enrolment
  • Digital Learning – Acceptable Use Agreement
  • Fundraising

We’ll continue to share more updates with you as they become available throughout the year.

Yard Duty and Supervision – Important Reminder

To help keep all our students safe, we’d like to remind families about our school’s supervision arrangements.

Supervised Hours

School grounds are supervised by staff from 8:45am to 3:45pm. Outside of these hours, staff are not available to supervise students.

Before and After School Supervision

During supervised times, staff will be present at:

•          The main entrance

•          The north and east areas of the school grounds

Please ensure your child does not arrive before 8:45am or remain on school grounds after 3:45pm, unless they are enrolled in a before or after school care program.

Need Care Outside These Hours?

We encourage families to explore our Before and After School Care options. You can find more information on our website: https://www.bimbadeenheightsps.vic.edu.au/before-and-after-care/

If a Student Arrives Too Early or Is Not Picked Up on Time

If a student arrives before 8:45am or is still at school after 3:45pm, staff will:

•          Contact parents/carers to remind them of supervision times

•          Request alternate arrangements be made

If a student is not collected and we cannot reach a parent or emergency contact, we may:

•          Place the student in an out-of-school-hours care program (if available)

•          Contact Victoria Police or Child Protection services to ensure the student’s safety

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and supervised environment for all students.

If you would like to read more about Yard Duty supervision, please refer to the updated Yard Duty policy.
