Term 3 Week 6

Underdale High School Collaboration

During Book Week, our R7 and R8 Reception students had a fantastic time participating in a special collaboration with the Year 12 Child Studies students from Underdale High School.

On Wednesday 13th August, the high school students visited and led a series of engaging, hands-on activities inspired by the Book Week shortlisted books.

The activities were thoughtfully planned and delivered in small groups, giving our Receptions the chance to interact, explore stories, and have lots of fun - all while developing their love of reading.

This visit was also part of the Year 12 students’ Child Studies assessment, providing them with a valuable opportunity to apply their learning in a real- world setting. We were especially proud to welcome back some Year 12 students who are LNPS old scholars, bringing their leadership and creativity to the sessions. It was a rewarding experience for both our Reception students and the visiting Year 12s.

Borrowing

Just a quick reminder of how borrowing works in the library:

Reception -  Can borrow 4 books

Years 1, 2, 3, 4 -  Can borrow 8 books

Years 5 and 6 - Can borrow 10 books

Parents/Caregivers - Can borrow 10 books

Please remember to bring your library bag (Reception and Year 1/2), and return any overdue books to start borrowing again. Books can be kept for up to 2 weeks. If you’ve forgotten to return a book, don’t worry – just drop it in the returns box when you get the chance!

Returns

Students can return books by placing them in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in Tirkandi. Please note that only staff members are allowed to return books and use the returns computer. If a book is returned damaged, please place it in the Book Doctor box for repairs.

Computer Borrowing

Library computer borrowing is available only for students in Years 3 to 6. The borrowing period runs from 8:40am to 8:50am. Computers can be borrowed by those who have either damaged their own computers or forgotten to bring them to school.

When you borrow a computer, we will record your name, class, and the computer's barcode. Each student must borrow a computer under their own name.

Please remember that all borrowed computers must be returned to the library by the end of the day. If a student forgets to return their computer three times, they will be unable to borrow for three days. Should this happen again, the borrowing restriction period will be extended.

Please note that these computers are secondhand, so they may be slower or have keys that are a bit tricky to use. If you notice any other damages, please inform your teachers, IT staff, or me directly.

Overdue, Lost or Damaged Books

The school library policy regarding overdue, lost, or damaged books is as follows:

If a library book lost or returned damaged, a fee of $15 will be charged. If the book is found you will be reimbursed the full amount.

Please note that students will not be able to borrow any additional books until the overdue book is returned or the payment is made. The fees collected are used to replace the lost or damaged book.
