Year 3/4 Learning Reflection

Every Friday students practice their creative and independent directed writing skills by participating in narrative writing, prompted by a picture.

In these sessions students are given the freedom to be as imaginative as possible. They are reminded to follow the stages of writing so that structure, legibility and cohesiveness is maintained .

Core Literacy, a fundamental session in our learning each day. Students in these pictures are practising the /ar/ sound and investigating the sound spellings of a, ar, al and au.

A tricky math skill to learn but a very important one....time! Students have been retrieving knowledge about analog clocks and their features, discussing foundational elements such as minutes and quarters to establish and consolidate their learning about 'quarter past' and 'quarter to' times. Next week we will continue withe time and then move onto 3D shapes.

Next week we are lucky enough to have author, Kelly Brodie-Brown visiting our school on Tuesday for Book Week. Kelly is a picture-book author based in Melbourne, who enjoys stories that impart an optimistic message about diversity, pride and acceptance. Her latest book; 'The Style Secrets of Gareth McGreen' does not disappoint, with a clear message promoting individuality, diversity, acceptance and self love.

Don't forget our Book Week Parade will be on Thursday 21st August at 2:30pm in the gym.
