Week 3 & 4 Updates
It’s been a fun and creative few weeks in Performing Arts! Students across all year levels have been exploring the concept of place and setting — thinking about how they can act and move in different environments, and what elements are needed to bring a setting to life on stage.
Prep students have been enjoying games and activities that introduce the elements of drama, helping them explore character, movement, and imagination in playful ways.
Grade 1/2 students have begun planning their project for the term, diving into the world of fairy tales as they explore familiar stories in new and exciting ways.
Meanwhile, Grades 3–6 are working on an imaginative project that combines elements from two different fairy tales. They’re brainstorming creative ways to blend the stories and portray them through performance.
I can’t wait to see what our talented students create as their projects come to life!
Grade Prep-2
This term, our students have kicked off their Physical Education program by focusing on fitness and collaborative skills. These foundational activities are designed to build stamina, encourage teamwork, and foster positive peer interactions—essential qualities that support both physical and social development.
As students grow more confident and capable, they are now transitioning into station-based activities that target both fine and gross motor skills. These stations offer a wide variety of challenges that support coordination, strength, balance, and precision—laying the groundwork for skill development across a range of sports.
We are already seeing great progress, and we look forward to continuing this dynamic and engaging journey throughout the term!
Grade 3-6
This term, students have begun their exciting journey into Newcombe and Volleyball as part of our Physical Education program. These dynamic and inclusive sports are excellent for developing hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
We’ve started by focusing on fundamental passing skills—including underarm throws, chest passes, and basic volleys—building a strong foundation in technique and control. As students grow more confident and consistent in their passing, we are gradually introducing offensive skills such as setting, serving, and positioning.
This step-by-step approach ensures students develop the key skills needed for success in game situations. As the term progresses, we will transition into modified gameplay, giving students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a team setting.
It's been wonderful to see students encouraging one another and showing great enthusiasm on the court. We look forward to watching their skills and teamwork continue to grow throughout the term!
Swimming Program
Our annual Prep - 2 swimming program begins on the 1st of September and we have made enough spots for every student to attend. Please confirm consent and payment on Compass to ensure your child attends.
We are excited to announce that our annual Prep to Year 2 Swimming Program will commence on Monday, 1st September. This much-loved program is an important part of our physical education curriculum, helping students build water confidence, learn essential swimming skills, and develop safety awareness around water.
We’re pleased to share that there are enough places for every student to attend, and we strongly encourage all families to take up this valuable opportunity.
To ensure your child can participate, please remember to complete the consent and payment via Compass as soon as possible. This helps us with final planning and ensures that all students are fully prepared for their sessions.
Swimming is not only a vital life skill but also a great way for young children to build confidence, resilience, and coordination in a fun, supportive environment. We look forward to seeing our youngest students thrive in the water!
If you have any questions or require assistance with Compass, please contact the school office.
¡¡HOLA!! ¿CÓMO ESTÁIS?
During weeks 3 and 4, we’ve focused on practising the vocabulary and new structures across all year levels.
PREPS: This weeks we dived into the world of the school bag and school supplies! Students had fun “packing” items inside a bag, using a big illustrated picture to bring the activity to life.
Grades 1–2: Our hobbies unit is in full swing! We’ve been using me gusta… + hobby in different games and activities, including lively interactive practice on iPads.
Grades 3–4: Our Spanish art journey continues! We explored inspiring techniques from Spanish-speaking artists such as muralism, geometric art, surrealism and pointillism. Students are busy creating an illustrated booklet to collect and show off their new vocabulary, while also practising shape names in Spanish.
Grades 5–6: We’ve begun exploring places in the city and connecting them with hobbies that can be enjoyed there. Students worked through engaging activities both individually and as a team.
We’re super excited to announce that next week we’ll kick off preparations for our Spanish Fiesta – this year celebrating Chile!
Stay tuned – more information is coming your way very soon!
¡¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!!

It's hard to believe how quickly the year is flying by! Once again, it has been such a joy to see students across the school bringing energy, focus, and creativity into the art room. They have jumped straight into Term 3 with enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful watching them continue to develop their skills, take creative risks, and express themselves through art.
Prep
Our Preps have made a fantastic start to the term, working on beautiful 3D flower creations for our upcoming Art Show. They’ve been learning about a range of flowers and plants found along our local creek, and applying new art techniques to bring their artworks to life. Their focus and effort have been impressive, and we can’t wait to share their stunning results with you!
Year 1/2
Students in Years 1 and 2 have also begun the term with a bright and bold flower project, using fluorescent colours and exploring patterns and shapes found in nature. Through close observation of real leaves and flowers, they’ve discovered how unique each one is and used that understanding to inspire their own imaginative designs. These vibrant artworks are sure to shine at the Art Show!
Years 3–6
In Years 3 to 6, students have started the term with a shared focus on a meaningful Indigenous art project. After wrapping up their amazing fish and bird pieces from last term, they’ve now been learning about Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country, discussing their meanings, their differences, and their importance. We then explored our local area, studying birds-eye view maps over time to observe how the land has changed and what those changes tell us. With this knowledge, students are now beginning to create their own artistic maps, featuring important landmarks and flowing through all of them our Kororoit Creek.
It’s shaping up to be another rich and inspiring term in the art room. I’m so excited to see how students continue to grow, explore, and create in the weeks ahead!
