Smile Squad Six-Month Fluoride Varnish Visit

Smile Squad are returning from Monday 25th August for approximately the week. They are heading back to our school to complete six-monthly fluoride varnish applications for those students who have provided consent. Fluoride varnish applications help make sure students have the best chance of preventing tooth decay, so we’re excited Smile Squad are coming back.

Consent for this fluoride varnish application was provided when students’ initial consent forms were returned. However, if anyone has changed their mind and do not wish to receive a fluoride varnish application, they can contact Cohealth directly to let them know.

Bullying: No Way Day

On Friday 15th August, our school proudly took part in Bullying No Way Day, a national initiative focused on promoting safe and supportive school environments for all students.

Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of fun and age-appropriate classroom activities designed to help them understand what bullying is, how to stand up against it, and ways to prevent it in our school community.

From role-playing and storytelling to discussions and creative tasks, the activities encouraged kindness, empathy, and confidence.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn important life skills in a supportive and engaging way.

Open Parachute - Coping with Bullying

Open Parachute is an online platform that we are using as a school to dig deeper into student well-being. In class students view videos of age appropriate challenges faced by students, and are then provided with proven strategies by clinical psychologist Dr Hayley Watson. This creates proactive positive mental health, and comes from research designed to reduce incidents of a range of mental health challenges, potential conflict and bullying.

Below is a link to a learning module called "Coping with Bullying". It takes around 30 minutes to complete, with the learning objectives of:

  • understand & define bullying
  • practice the skills of empowering your child if they are involved in bullying dynamics
