Bendigo Bank Sponsorship

Early this term, we commenced a new intervention program called MiniLit Sage. This program provides explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, systematic synthetic phonics for reading and spelling, letter formation, and connected text reading. It is specifically aimed at Year 1 and 2 students who require support to develop decoding skills.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bendigo Bank Seddon for their generous support in resourcing our MiniLit Sage program.

Their contribution has been instrumental in helping us provide targeted, evidence-based literacy support to our early readers. With their support, we are able to give more children the tools and confidence they need to build strong reading foundations — setting them up for long-term success in learning.

We are deeply grateful for Bendigo Bank Seddon’s commitment to education and their investment in the future of our young learners.

National Science Week Celebration

Today we celebrated National Science Week in each of our Learning Communities. The theme of Decoding the Universe was evident in the investigations our students participated in.

In Year Prep to Year 2, the students practiced decoding patterns left behind by animals in their natural habitats. By following the prints of kangaroos or other Australian animals, they learnt about what animals need to survive.

In the Year 3 and 4 Community, the students created a tornado in a bottle. They observed the creation of a water vortex by swirling water in a bottle. The swirling motion of the bottle creates a vacuum and the motion created a pathway for the air as the water moved the air mass below.

In the Year 5 and 6 Community, the students engaged in a Science Week Brain Break quiz, testing their knowledge of science concepts. They also investigated Fibonacci sequences in nature and its application to flower petals.
