Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

Well, it is finally here, the last round of summer sport for Term 4 and the last round of sport for the year in the Junior School. Let’s make this final game a memorable one for all the right reasons with great skill levels, positive attitudes and lots of support. The aim is to finish off the year by putting all our skills on display, playing our best. This way, win, lose or draw we can end the season happy with our performance and development.
After Saturday’s fixtures there will be no further training or games. All boys in Touch Football and Basketball will need to return their singlets (washed and folded) to my office on Monday 24 November. Boys will have their names marked off once their singlets have been returned.
Friday was a great day at Birrong Pool. The weather was perfect for swimming and there was a great atmosphere around the pool. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who came out to spectate. You really added to the atmosphere and helped make the Junior School Swimming Carnival feel special. To all the staff that were in attendance, a personal thank you from me for your tireless efforts on the day. Without you there can’t be a carnival, and it is only because of your hard work that our day can be so successful. Thank you!
Congratulations to Hanrahan for taking out the Junior School House Swimming Carnival. This is the second carnival trophy for Hanrahan this year, having already won the Cross Country Carnival earlier in the year.
Congratulations also to our Age Champions for 2025:
10 years: Thomas Luchi (Berg)
11 Year Year 5: Joshua Loudon (Hanrahan)
11 Year Year 6: Felipe Meadows (Coghlan)
12 Years: Max Dimov (Berg)
Over the weekend there was a special performance in our cricket ranks. Felipe Meadows of the 6A Cricket team scored 50 runs against Scots College. This is an impressive performance when you consider that boys must retire after 20 balls and then hopefully get an opportunity to bat again should time and overs allow. Scoring quickly during both his times at bat, Felipe’s innings was unselfish and built on what his team needed. The 6A team went on to win this game on the final ball. This is Felipe’s second time scoring 50 runs this year and we look forward to watching him progress through the senior school teams. Well done, Felipe!
A reminder that the Junior School Summer Sport and Representative Presentation Evening will be held on Friday 28 November in the College Gym. Please be seated by 5:45 PM for a prompt start at 6:00 PM. The night will see boys recognised for their performances in Summer sport, the presentation of age champion awards, recognition of those boys that went on to play with representative honours and the award for Junior School Sportsman of the Year. This is a compulsory evening for all boys who have played a summer sport and I look forward to seeing you all there.
