Hello from Grade 4

Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Hi families
Welcome to our last newsletter entry for the year. It is not long now but you'll be pleased to hear that we are still working hard in our classroom.
Literacy
Our focus for these last few weeks has been Poetry, something I like to leave until the end of the year as we are now able to use a range of literary devices and create some amazing imaginative work. We have written Limericks Simile and Diamate poems and ones like those we are sharing this week called 'I Am' poems.
These poems are good for promoting self-reflection, emotional expression, and self-awareness. They serve as a tool for individuals to explore their identity, feelings, and experiences in a structured and creative way.
We hope you enjoy reading them.
The students have enjoyed our work on poetry and have produced some great pieces.
Maths
In maths over the past few weeks we have been going back over the operations of addition , subtraction, multiplication and division. We have been trying to strengthen our fluency with number facts and ensure that we have a range of strategies available to us to solve problems involving these key operations.
This week we have been looking at factors and multiples as a way of strenghening our understanding of mulitiplication and division Some of the ways we have done this is by playing card games like 10 factors, completing factor trees and coloring in the factors. Here are a few photos of the children working this week.

With the end of the year fast approaching we are looking forward to celebrating together and preparing to move up to our new classrooms for 2026
Kim and I would like to thank you all for your support this year and wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful break.
