Wellbeing Centre Newsletter

The end of the year is fast approaching; celebrations, concerts and camps are all underway, and with them comes plenty of excitement and mixed feelings. Many tired children have been popping into the Mindfulness Centre over the past few weeks, needing time to recharge or asking for help to navigate friendship challenges. It is very common for our Year 6 students to experience a few extra bumps as the realisation of a new chapter in their schooling begins to settle in. Those heading to the same secondary school often start to connect more closely, while those going in different directions can feel a little on the outside. This time of year can also be challenging for parents, as you juggle getting your children to events, attending functions and keeping day-to-day routines going. Remember to take time for your own self-care so you can enjoy this festive season as well.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, there are many projects on the go at the moment – the mural, the wooden flowers for the atrium, the new buddy bench and the planting of pots around the school. It has been lovely to hear so many students express their excitement and appreciation for these initiatives. These collaborative projects clearly matter to our children, as they help build a strong sense of community and belonging.
Time for some shout-outs! A big shout-out to a group of Year 5 students who have been running a crochet club for the past term and a bit for our junior school students. This club has been well organised by the group of girls and has become a weekly highlight for younger students keen to learn to finger knit or crochet. The club has taught the senior girls a lot about group work, organisation and the art of teaching, and it has even given some students an extra reason to come to school on tricky days. Hopefully, we will see more wonderful student-led clubs next year.
A huge thank you and congratulations to our Friendology leaders, who have helped out in the junior playground every Tuesday and Thursday for most of the year. Their commitment to the role and enthusiasm for supporting younger students has been impressive, and they have certainly developed some excellent negotiation skills.
Finally, a big thank you to the 2025 Wellbeing Leaders, who have done a fantastic job this year hosting our special days and supporting wellbeing across the school. They have been an enthusiastic group of leaders who have shown strong communication skills, contributed great ideas to our projects and upheld our school values with pride. The whole school community can be proud of them, and we wish them all the very best as they move on to secondary school.
