Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

SCHOOL COUNCIL 2026

I’d like to welcome Justin Charles and Zoe McKinnon to our School Council for the 2026-2027 school years.

We had quite a bit of interest which is pleasing but ultimately we had two parents submit paperwork by the due date/time.

We really appreciate Justin and Zoe joining and we are also equally pleased that our incumbent members are again contributing as a School Council members.

At our next meeting on Tuesday 17th March at 6:30pm we will hold the AGM at which all current executive positions will be dissolved and an election for office bearers will take place.

We will also ask members to nominate Sub-Committees which they would be happy to join.

Your 2026 School Council is comprised of 8 parents and 4 Department of Education representatives as follows;

Georgina Logan (P), Clinton Brown (P), Zoe McKinnon (P), Greg Gent (P), Justin Charles (P), Nick Mills (P), Aaron Hammersley (P), Stephanie Packer (P), Edwina Medro (DE), Tonya Ferguson (DE), Danielle Toone (DE) and myself (DE).

Again, thank you for your contribution to our great school.

WELCOME TO FOUNDATION A

Foundation A students have been busy discovering the wonderful world of patterns through nature!

Over the past few weeks, their classroom has been filled with curiosity and creativity as students explored patterns found in leaves, flowers, gum nuts and more.

Students created their own nature-inspired artworks using repeating shapes, colours and textures.

Through these activities, students have been strengthening their mathematical thinking, creativity and ability to identify and create repeating patterns — all while having lots of fun!

ATHLETICS PRACTISE

Our students have been working hard for the upcoming school athletics sports.

Some of the more challenging events; Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus are difficult to master so it's important for the students to have a lot of practise.

The Whole Achool Athletics sports are being held in March across our school grounds.

The Fundraising Committee will be organising a canteen for the day so please stay tuned for more information.

It will be a great day for Parents and students to share at school and as always please let your classroom teacher or Cherine Owen know if you can assist on the day.

SOMERS CAMP

We have a large contingent of very excited students and staff preparing to head off to Somers Camp next Tuesday 24th February 2026. The students will spend 9 days at this famous camp where they will enjoy fun and leadership building activities. Thankyou to Ms Hann, Mrs Versteegh and Mrs Owen for supporting our students during this time.

WARRNAMBOOL COLLEGE AND BRAUER COLLEGE OPEN NIGHTS

Choosing a high school can be a daunting process, that's why it’s a great opportunity to attend the high school open nights. Both Warrnambool College and Brauer College have open nights scheduled next month and I encourage to you attend.

SMOKING AND VAPING AROUND SCHOOLS

Parents, carers, schools, and community all play an important role in protecting children and young people from the harmful effects of smoking and vaping.

This is why a person must not smoke cigarettes, including e-cigarettes (regardless of whether they contain nicotine or are prescribed for therapeutic use) within a school premises and within 4 metres of any pedestrian access to school premises.

Signs are erected at all entrances into the school and we ask that everyone abides by this.

Have a great weekend.

Peter Lee
