Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately we have had a number of unwell students and staff over the last few weeks with colds, covid and upset tummies. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home so they can rest and recover. You can use the Sentral app to let us know that your child is away and the reason for their absence. You can also call the school to record their absence.

We are required by law to keep a record of absences and reasons for absences so help us out by letting us know why your child is away.

What time can I drop my child at school?

Children can be dropped at school from 8:30am. Our Before School Care service is available in the multipurpose room if your child needs to be at school before 8:30am. To register your child and book them in go to- https://childrensprograms.ymca.org.au/outside-school-hours-care/bendigo-violet-street-primary-ironbark

Online parenting support/courses.

Some of you may have connected with Triple P Parenting courses before. They offer a range of online courses, including the one listed below. If you would like to learn more about how to support your child with the online world, you can register by clicking the link below-

Easter raffle.

I'm excited to buy LOTS of raffle tickets for our easter raffle! Make sure you visit the Parents & Friends page in the newsletter to learn more. Students will be bringing home raffle tickets and I can guarantee that just about everyone you know will be keen to buy at least one ticket. The more tickets we sell the more funds are raised to support our school and students. This year, Parents & Friends are fundraising to support our cooking program so equipment can be replaced and updated.

All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in Australia do NAPLAN tests in March (11-23 March 2026) each year.

NAPLAN checks students’ skills in reading, writing and maths.

The test questions are presented in Standard Australian English dialect.

Students read some of the questions and listen to others with headphones.

The tests will get easier or harder, depending on how students are going in the test.

Students in Year 3 will do the Writing test using pencil and paper. Year 3 students will answer the other test questions on the computer.

Students in Years 5, 7 and 9 will answer all their test questions on computers.

Our teachers will help students get ready for NAPLAN tests.

Schools will get their students’ results. We will then give parents/carers a report showing their own child’s results. Parents/carers can talk to the teacher about these results.

For more information on NAPLAN visit NAP - Home
