School Captain's Report

Year 6 Leadership Day with YMCA

On the 9th of February, our Year 6 student leaders gathered for an exciting and inspiring Leadership Day led by the Y, better known as the YMCA. The day focused on developing our understanding of leadership, responsibility, and the importance of working together within our school and wider community.

Throughout the day, we participated in a range of engaging, thought-provoking activities. One highlight was Get Yourself Out of the Invisible Maze, a challenge that tested our communication skills. We discovered that clear instructions, patience, and trust are essential when leading others. Another meaningful activity, Help in the Rainforest, encouraged us to think about fairness and empathy. It reminded us not to judge people too quickly and to consider different perspectives before making decisions.

In addition to the activities, we listened to valuable talks about what it truly means to be a responsible leader. We learned that leadership is not just about being in charge or having a badge, but about setting a positive example, showing kindness, and helping others succeed.

At lunchtime, we enjoyed some delicious pizza and had the opportunity to reflect on our learning with our peers, by having an insightful group discussion. We revised all of our essential leadership skills, and it was a fantastic day filled with laughter, teamwork, and personal growth.

On behalf the School Leadership Team, I would like to commemorate the principals and the teachers at our school, and The Y staff that helped make our Leadership Day possible.

We are extremely grateful for this wonderful experience with The Y. With our refined leadership skills, we are excited to lead our school with confidence, respect and responsibility, and hope to lead the school into a great year!
