Principal's Message

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone is well and has had a great week! The beautiful run of warm, sunny weather has certainly kept spirits high across the school. It’s amazing what a bit of sunshine can do for everyone’s energy and enthusiasm. Although today has thrown in a cooler change, which is quite refreshing for some!
English at MEPS
Please take a moment to read through our English newsletter, prepared by our Learning Specialist, Miss Mel Perkins. It outlines the recent changes to our English approach at MEPS and provides insight into what this looks like in classrooms across the school.
Stay tuned for further information about our updated Maths approach in the coming weeks!
Grade 6 Jackets
Our Grade 6 students received their new jackets today, always a special milestone for our ‘big kids’. The jackets are a proud symbol of their leadership role in the school and how far they’ve come at MEPS.
Even the weather cooperated, giving them the perfect chance to wear them straight away!
Welcome, Maggie Blake Casini!
Some exciting news! Alyx and Dan Casini have welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Maggie Blake, into the world on Tuesday! Maggie arrived a little early at 37 weeks, weighing 2.88kgs.
Congratulations Casini Crew!
Toilets
Our new toilets are starting on Monday!
After 15 years of hard work advocating for this upgrade, the time has finally come. From Monday, temporary fencing will be installed and the internal disconnection of services will begin.
As outlined in the previous newsletter, students have been allocated alternative toilets within the school during the works.
We will continue to keep everyone updated on the progress as the project moves forward.
Camp
From Monday to Wednesday, our Grade 4 students enjoyed an action-packed camp at Phillip Island Adventure Resort. It was three fantastic days filled with challenge, teamwork, laughter and new experiences.
Students embraced a range of exciting activities including the giant swing, disc golf, canoeing, raft making and archery. Many students stepped outside their comfort zones, showing courage and resilience as they tried new things and encouraged one another along the way.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Koala Conservation Park, where students were able to see koalas up close in their natural habitat. Students were also treated with ten pin bowling, laser tag and arcade games, which were a huge hit with everyone, even the teachers!
One of the most entertaining parts of camp was the annual talent quest on Tuesday night. As always, it brought plenty of laughs and showcased the creativity and confidence of our students. The evening concluded with a movie night, a perfect way to wind down after such busy days.
Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for students to build independence, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories. We are incredibly proud of the way our Grade 4 students represented our school.
A big thank you to our Grade 4 teachers and ES staff who attended camp. Your organisation, care and hard work made this experience possible for our students.
Student Collection on Fridays
If you plan to pick up your child early on a Friday afternoon, we would really appreciate it if this could be either prior to 2pm (beginning of afternoon break), or at 2:40pm (end of afternoon break) - prior to assembly. This will help to minimise disruptions to assembly. Where possible, please let your child know in advance to meet you at the office at the start or end of lunch, as students often don't hear the announcements when they are outside playing.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office on 9726 9422 or at mooroolbark.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
Thank you for your support.
Regards,
Matt Tyndall, Antoinette Di Ludovico, Brant Kennedy
