Interschool Volleyball Report

Wednesday 04/03/2026

It was a wonderful day of volleyball as our school sent both an intermediate boys team and an intermediate girls team to compete against other schools at the carnival. As one of the smallest schools in the competition, and with several Year 7 and 8 students playing up in the Year 9/10 division due to limited numbers, our teams punched well above their weight. Most importantly, all students conducted themselves with tremendous maturity — their behaviour and performance of duties throughout the day was exemplary.

Intermediate Boys

The boys got off to a flying start in their first game against Merbein, the team that would go on to win the entire competition. They were right in the contest, using their three-hit combinations brilliantly, encouraging each other constantly, and playing with great energy. It was one of the highlights of the day. Their second game against Irymple was a tougher contest — Irymple proved too strong on the day, but the boys continued to compete hard and showed good spirit. The final game against Coomealla was a chance to finish on a high, but unfortunately the boys didn’t quite replicate the excellence of that opening match. A few players abandoned the three-hit structure, rushing balls straight back over and getting in each other’s way under pressure. It was a disappointing way to end what had been a very promising day. The boys didn’t progress, but the first game showed exactly what they’re capable of when they back themselves and play to their strengths.

Intermediate Girls

The girls had a challenging opening match against Merbein, going down by six points. They regrouped well and faced the pool-topping Chaffey side next — a much tighter affair. Despite finding themselves down by around 15 points near the end, the girls mounted a remarkable comeback and only narrowly lost by three, running out of time to complete what would have been a stunning turn around. They finished their day on a high, defeating Coomealla by 12 points in their final match— a well-earned win to close out the carnival. The teamwork and positive attitude by all players was exemplary and Tilesa was an encouraging and strategic captain. A special mention to Kasa, who was the standout server of the entire day — a superb individual performance.

A big thank you to all students who represented our school so proudly. Days like these are a reminder of the great character in our school community.
