A remarkable result: Emmaus Teams finish first and second in the SA Volleyball Tournament

After eight weeks of preparation and coaching, our Year 12 PE class finally reached the big Volleyball tournament they had been working towards as part of their external assessment.

The students had divided themselves into two even teams eight weeks ago, and throughout that time every student has taken on a coaching role: motivational coach, fitness coach, technical coach or tactical coach, developing their understanding of what it takes to prepare, lead and perform as a team.

On Friday, they had the opportunity to compete against 21 other Year 12 teams from across South Australia. 

And what an incredible outcome!

After progressing through the tournament, the two Emmaus teams met each other in the Grand Final, finishing 1st and 2nd out of all 21 teams.

I feel incredibly blessed to have watched this group over the past eight weeks and to see their hard work, commitment, encouragement and collaboration come together.

I am incredibly proud of them all.

Year 9/10 Girls' Netball Team placed 2nd in the State

On Monday our Year 9/10 Girls Netball team went to the School Sports SA Division 3 Knockout Netball State Finals, and we are proud to announce that they came second  in the State! 

The team has gone through two knockout rounds, surpassing 32 other schools, to get to this final, where they met Balaklava High School, Xavier College Gawler, and Murray Bridge High School. They played four matches, beating Xavier and Murray Bridge, and ultimately taking out second place in the grand finale to Balaklava High. 

We are incredibly proud of the girls for their hard work and achievements in this space.

They've worked very hard over the last two terms, improving their skills each week in the Netball Development Program and demonstrating leadership and teamwork to younger students. 

We want to thank the parents who came to spectate and support yesterday, and a massive thank you to Fiona for her dedication to the Development Program and this team.

Year 7-12 Students train with Adelaide Thunderbirds Tayla Williams and Jazmin McKay

Our Netball Development Program is run by Fiona Hunter across Terms 2 and 3 each year and is available to Year 7-12. Students have been attending every Thursday morning from 7:15am - 8:15am to train and grow in their skills as athletes.

This morning, we had the privilege of Thunderbirds Tayla Williams and Jazmin McKay coming in to run a session with the students. The girls trained in both attacking and defence drills and were able to gain some great insight into their techniques from both Tayla and Jazmin. 

We're proud of the growth and continual effort that we've seen in the students over the last two terms and we're looking forward to more opportunities for the girls to use their new skills in the coming years.

Paid Basketball Coaching Opportunities

We're after some coaches to coach Junior and Secondary Emmaus Basketball teams for the SA Church Basketball Association 2026/2027 Summer Season. 

The Summer Season runs from Saturday 17 October 2026 until late April 2027 (excluding the School Holidays).

• Matches played on Saturday afternoons between 1pm and 5pm across metropolitan Adelaide gyms
• The Coach would need to conduct a weekly after-school training session. The day and time is negotiable.
• Coaches must have relevant security clearances (WWCC & RRHAN-EC) or be willing to obtain
• Coaches will be paid $30 per game
