Book-Week Wrap Up

Production costumes were barely off and the kids were straight into the pages of their favourite book. We were overwhelmed with the attention to detail and passion within so many of these costumes.  A huge shout-out to my library leaders, Esmé, Gabe and Mathilde, for all their behind-the-scenes work and dedication. It took us three hours to visit all the classrooms to chat with all the kids who proudly showed us handmade details and spoke of why they loved their chosen characters. It was an honour to connect with them all.

A big thank-you must also go to Peader (and his family, Violet and Amy) who gave up their weekend to bring you an impactful and fun book-week mural. The days were grey and crisp but they carried on cheerfully with their paintbrushes and rollers. 

We had three amazing author visits (more to come on that), bookmark competitions, Wally hunts, CBCA shortlist readings, the readathon. It's been a busy, bookish time here at Newlands celebrating reading and the little haven that is our library.
