Year 7 Depth Study

Our Year 7 students have been exploring Cells and Classification, diving into how living things are identified and categorised using classification keys. Recently, as part of their Depth Study assessment, each Year 7 class took a hands-on excursion to the Macintyre River via May Street Lookout.

On the trip, students practiced collecting field samples by creating detailed observational sketches of local plants and gathering water samples to analyse back in the classroom.

Students were fascinated to discover a diverse range of microorganisms in the river including amoebas, bloodworms and paramecium! This real-world experience will help them as they analyse their samples and complete an informational report on the rich biodiversity of the river ecosystem.

A big thank you to all the Year 7 students who attended and showed great respect for the local area and community.
