PBL
At SFS, our PBL (Positive Behaviours for Learning) school wide expectations are:
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
We have a whole school social skills lesson where we explicitly teach an expected behaviour from our Behaviour Expectation matrix.
This week the focus has been RESPONSIBILITY in the LEARNING SPACE: Listen and Follow Instructions.
The teachers explained to the students why it is important for us to follow this expected behaviour. We all need to be safe, healthy and happy at school. It is everyone’s responsibility to follow rules and do the right thing. What do I do when I am actively listening? When we make positive choices and follow instructions, we work much better together and we can focus better on our learning.
Here are some of our PBL raffle winners who have been seen demonstrating school expected behaviours.
SRC
As we come towards the end of Term 2 and Semester 1 2026, the students who were our Semester 1 SRC reps have been reflecting on the work we have done so far this year.
These students will have their last meeting with Rachel on Monday 15th June and celebrate their achievements. Here is what the students have to say about their experience as an SRC member. We can’t wait to let everyone know who the new SRC reps are for Semester 2. We will announce these students soon and they will be presented with their badges at the first assembly in Term 3.
We have enjoyed being a part of the SRC in Semester 1 2026. We have come up with some rules and expectations about paying in the sandpit. We made a list of rules and we made some videos to teach the students about expected behaviours in the sandpit. We also have made some new lunchtime clubs to give students a chance to participate in different activities. We like being in the SRC because students look up to you as a role model and ask you for help. We like being in the SRC because we get to share new ideas to make the school better. We like being in the SRC because we learn about ways to make the school safe and better. We like being in the SRC because we have discussions about ways to solve problems in fun ways. It is important to have a SRC because we want kids to have a say and share ideas about the school. Being in the SRC can help students who are shy to build their confidence and be a leader in the school.

Child Safety standards
To highlight the importance of Child Safety in schools, MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) has created a resource called “11 standards in 11 months.”
Let’s look at Child standard 8 in more detail through a newsletter created for parents and carers by MACS. Child safe standard 8 is Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.
If you have any concern about your child’s mental health or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to contact me or make a time to speak with me. My working days are Monday to Wednesday and Friday.
