Recent Highlights!

Over recent weeks, the life of the School has been enriched by a broad range of activities and events, each reflecting the depth and diversity of opportunity available to our students and community. From celebrations of boarding, cadets and alumni connection to the energy of winter sport and engagement with regional families, these experiences speak to the vibrancy of school life at Kinross Wolaroi. The following highlights offer a glimpse into some of the moments that have shaped this busy and rewarding period.

National Boarding Week

Our School marked National Boarding Week with a meaningful opportunity for reflection, recognising both the significance of boarding within our community and the deeply personal journeys it shapes. With boarding such a defining part of life at Kinross Wolaroi, we are proud to be a school where this experience sits at the heart of who we are. This year’s theme, “Echoes from Home,” invited us to consider the enduring influence of family, values and upbringing in the lives of our boarders.

For many, boarding is both a challenge and a gift - one that calls upon resilience, fosters independence and builds lifelong friendships. While our boarders are physically away from home, the values instilled by their families continue to guide how they live, learn and relate to others. Over time, the boarding house itself becomes a different kind of home, shaped by shared routines, laughter, support and a strong sense of belonging. As we reflected on the week, we celebrated not only the homes that have shaped our students, but also the community we are building together, knowing that these experiences will leave a lasting imprint long after their time at school has ended.

Golden Alumni Reunion

The recent Golden Alumni Reunion was a special occasion, bringing together past students who graduated 50 years ago or more to celebrate their enduring connection with our School. It was a privilege to welcome back members of our Golden cohort, whose lives and achievements reflect the values and traditions that continue to shape our community today. The afternoon was marked by warm friendship, shared memories and a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences and relationships formed during their time here. Gatherings such as this are a powerful reminder that belonging to our School extends far beyond graduation, with lifelong connections that continue to strengthen our community across generations.

Cadet Parade and Dinner

The Cadet Parade and Dinner held last Friday was a fitting celebration of the commitment and community spirit of our Cadet Unit. The afternoon commenced with an impressive parade, showcasing the precision and teamwork our cadets have developed through their training. Families and staff were able to witness first-hand the confidence and leadership growth of our students. This was followed by a formal dinner, providing an opportunity for our senior cadets to gather, with their families, recognising both individual and collective achievements. I would like to sincerely thank our Commanding Officer, Major Lun, cadet officers and staff for their dedication in supporting this program, and commend our cadets for the way they always represent our School with distinction.

Winter Sports

The commencement of our winter sports program has once again brought a strong sense of energy across the School. The students have embraced the season with enthusiasm. Whether on the rugby field, the hockey turf, netball court or the soccer pitch, it has been pleasing to see students supporting one another and striving for personal excellence while representing the School with pride. Sport provides not only an opportunity to develop skill and resilience, but also to strengthen friendships and deepen our sense of community. I would like to thank our coaches, co-ordinators and staff for their ongoing dedication, and encourage all students to make the most of the opportunities the season presents.

Regional Visits

The recent “Meet the Principal” functions in Condobolin and Dubbo provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen the School’s presence across key regional communities and to engage directly with both prospective and current families. These events are designed to be welcoming and conversational, allowing families to hear first-hand about the School’s educational philosophy, co-curricular breadth and commitment to student wellbeing. Importantly, they also created space for genuine dialogue, with families able to ask questions, share their aspirations for their children, and gain a clearer sense of what distinguishes a Kinross Wolaroi education. Attendance was encouraging and reflected strong interest in the School. Beyond immediate enrolment outcomes, these visits strengthened relationships within the communities and reinforced the importance of maintaining a visible and accessible leadership presence in our regional markets.

Looking Ahead

As we look ahead to the remainder of the term, there is much to look forward to across the life of the School. The weeks ahead will bring with them many opportunities for learning, growth, participation and connection, and I hope our students will embrace these with enthusiasm and gratitude. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, through service, performance or the everyday life of the School, each experience offers a chance to grow in character and confidence. We are deeply grateful for the dedication of our staff and the ongoing support of our families, and I look forward to all that the term ahead will bring for our students and our wider School community.

Yours sincerely,
