Congratulations to Olivia W (12) who was recently awarded the Gold Certificate for the Duke of Edinburgh at a ceremony held at Government House on June 4th. The Duke of Edinburgh is an internationally recognised award and this is a tremendous achievement.

Olivia commenced the certificate as a year 10 student and spent 18 months working towards the completion of the gold level. Olivia completed goals in Physical Recreation and Skills, completing Voluntary Service at the Salvation Army Op shop, went on Adventurous Journeys to Cathedral Ranges and Darwin and the Residential project with the Scouts at the 2025 Jamboree as a youth camp leader.
Congratulations and well done!
The 2026 Duke of Edinburgh Camp was an exhilarating experience for all participants, blending thrilling adventures with significant personal achievements. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Cathedral Ranges it certainly was a wet and wild three days!
On the first day we completed a walk to the top of the beautiful Steavenson’s falls in Marysville. There was plenty of water coming down the falls as we watched on in our raingear. We set up camp at Cook’s Mill and completed the nature walk and set the campfire up for the evening.

On day 2 we traversed the expanses of the Cathedral Ranges, normally a breathtaking expanse of rugged peaks, verdant valleys, and awe-inspiring vistas. Unfortunately, the ranges were covered by low cloud and constant drizzle we summited at Cathedral Peak, traversed to Little Cathedral Peak and then down into Ned’s Gully. The group completed the 14km hike whilst maintaining high spirits in the tough conditions. Whilst the weather conditions over the three days were far from ideal the group enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, practicing their skills and connecting with friends. A big thanks to Mr Smyth, Mr G, and Lorraine for assisting us on our journey.
