Mia Makes a Splash: Heading to Nationals!
An incredible congratulations goes out to Year 4 student Mia Li for her phenomenal performance at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on April 28!
Mia showcased outstanding skill and determination in the pool, swimming her way to the podium in two highly competitive events:
- Silver Medal – 50m Breaststroke
- Bronze Medal – 200m Individual Medley
Thanks to these stellar results, Mia has officially qualified for the NSW State Team. She will be packing her goggles and representing our state at the Australian Primary Schools Swimming Championships in Melbourne on November 29.
Making the state team is a massive achievement that requires countless hours of early morning training, dedication, and grit. Our entire school community is incredibly proud of Mia's hard work, and we can’t wait to cheer her on as she takes on the best young swimmers in the country.
Go Mia! We are all behind you!

Badminton
Badminton continues to thrive in the Senior School with our girls attending the Badminton Academy on a Friday afternoon. Kambala has almost taken over the facility at Badminton Worx with ten courts in action! On Saturday morning we have a group of girls who come back for match practice and the laughter and buzz among the playing group is always great to hear.
The girls enjoy playing against each other in a more social context than when they compete in the IGSA competition. We continue to see improvement in their skills, and it has been great to hear a number of girls are now playing tournaments outside of school. The players are looking forward to playing in the Term 3 St Catherine’s Invitational competition on a Wednesday evening.

Respect at Netball
Last Saturday, all netball teams were encouraged to wear a purple ribbon in their hair as a visible reminder that all players, coaches, officials and spectators deserve respect at netball.
This initiative highlights the importance of creating a positive and supportive environment both on and off the court. Respect and sportsmanship go hand in hand, and together they help ensure that netball remains an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Whether it is encouraging teammates, thanking umpires, supporting coaches or cheering positively from the sidelines, every action contributes to the culture of our game. As role models for our young athletes, it is important that we continue to demonstrate fairness, kindness and respect at all times.
Thank you to all players, families and supporters who continue to promote positive behaviour and uphold the values of teamwork, respect and good sportswoman ship throughout the season.

IPSHA Netball
This year, we have a record number of Junior School teams participating in the IPSHA Netball competition, which has been fantastic to see. We have been training together each Friday at the Moore Park courts, and having all teams train at the same time has worked really well. The girls have been focused, enthusiastic, and highly engaged throughout their training sessions.
On Saturdays, the teams have been performing well and showing noticeable improvement each week. We look forward to seeing each player continue to develop and grow in confidence as the competition progresses.

Kambala 1 win in a buzzer beater
In basketball, Kambala 1 has claimed their third straight win as they faced a tough Tara outfit in Round 3. After giving up an early lead, they fought their way back to win by two points. Every player contributed by stepping up in key moments, before Olive Meggitt sealed the win in dramatic fashion with a rebound shot as the buzzer sounded. The shot and subsequent win brought players, parents and spectators together in celebration, capping off a hard-fought and memorable match.
In a friendly match between Kambala 3 and Kambala 4, Kambala 3 secured a 12-point win in a competitive and enjoyable contest at Sydney University. Both teams displayed effort and determination throughout the game, in addition to their evident energy and enthusiasm. Great work girls!
Round 4 Soccer
Despite having low availability across our soccer teams due to the Year 9 camp, all teams displayed great determination and teamwork. With two fill-ins and no substitutes, Kambala 3 competed strongly and earned a well-deserved 1–1 draw against SCEGGS.
Kambala 2 displayed great effort, particularly in the second half, however they were beaten by a stronger Monte Sant’ Angelo side. Kambala 1 played their best match of the term against MLC. Although they didn’t win, every player displayed moments of great skill and composure, resulting in many impressive passages of play. Overall, each game was an amazing watch as girls competed with resilience, tenacity and sportswoman ship.
