Boarding
It gives me great pleasure to announce the Boarding Prefects for 2026/2027. These students have been selected for their leadership, commitment to the boarding community, and the positive example they set for others each day.

Congratulations to both girls, who thoroughly deserve their new leadership roles. Zara and Eve will officially take over from Term 3 and already have some wonderful plans to continue building a strong sense of inclusion and connection across the boarding house community.
Week 4 of this term was National Boarding Week, celebrated by boarding schools across Australia. Our Kambala Boarding Prefects marked the occasion by holding a fundraising BBQ in support of their chosen charity, the Country Education Foundation. The BBQ was a huge success, selling out in just 15 minutes, with delicious sausages generously donated by the Gill family.
While our IB students have been focused on assessments, our junior boarders have certainly kept busy with a range of exciting activities and experiences. Our Year 9 students have been enjoying their time at Cape York, our Year 7 and 8 students attended the KRB social, and many of our junior boarders have had great fun participating in escape rooms and rock climbing excursions.
It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm, resilience and strong community spirit across the boarding house as we move through a very busy term.

Weekend Rec Activities
Escape Room Rec Outing
Our recent Recreation outing saw the Kambala Boarders put their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test in an exciting race against the clock at two different escape rooms; The Old Haunt and Shutdown.
Working together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, find keys, and crack codes, the girls embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, creativity, and plenty of laughter (and a few screams) along the way. Whether investigating mysteries in Shutdown or navigating the spooky surprises of The Old Haunt, it was wonderful to see the girls collaborating and encouraging one another throughout the experience.
After successfully and unsuccessfully escaping (or coming very close!), the group headed to Yo-Chi at Barangaroo, a firm favourite amongst all Kambala boarders. Students enjoyed creating their own frozen yoghurt combinations and spending quality time together in a relaxed setting. The outing was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to connect and have fun together.
Rock Climbing
The rain could not keep us from climbing to new heights at the Sydney Rock Climbing gym. Starting tentatively in the kids area, our Year 7 and 8 girls quickly grew in confidence, moving on to the more advanced walls. Cheering each other on, calling out helpful hints and belaying each other, everyone was so supportive and encouraging, it was an activity in both physical fitness and teamwork. Rock climbing was not the only fun to be had. The walls were filled with dark and narrow caves hidden beneath the climbing paths, but armed with just a glow stick, Elle, Arabella and Aerin bravely worked through all the cave passages. With an entire room dedicated to bouldering, we had to try our hand at the more challenging sibling of rock climbing. The thrill of climbing without a harness and rope added an extra feeling of accomplishment with each wall scaled. When hands were burning from all the climbing, everyone tried their balancing skills on the slack line, which was a lot harder than it appeared. The day ended with well-earned treats at GYG and Chai Time. After such a challenging and strenuous day, it’s safe to say everyone slept well that night!
Events
Kambala Year 1 Visit
As part of their campus exploration, one of our Kambala Year 1 classes enjoyed a special visit to the Boarding House. The girls arrived full of curiosity and excitement, eager to learn more about what life is like for students who live at school.
During the tour, the Year 1 students explored the shared living spaces and looked into bedrooms while asking plenty of thoughtful and entertaining questions along the way. Many were fascinated by the idea of girls living at school.
Sophie Purseglove, Old Girl and current Boarding Staff member, enjoyed sharing her experiences and answering questions about boarding life. It was wonderful to see the younger students so engaged and excited as they discovered another important part of the Kambala community.
Kincoppal Boarding Social
On Friday night, some of our Year 7 and 8 Boarders attended a social event and had an incredible time taking part in a range of fun and engaging activities. Throughout the night, they enjoyed bubble soccer, and joined in games of handball, volleyball, music trivia and dodgeball.
The girls enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle for dinner before finishing with a special treat from the Mr Whippy ice cream truck, which was a highlight for all.
It was wonderful to see the girls trying new activities, building friendships and having fun together. We ended the evening with a tour through Kincoppal to look at their Vivid Lights set up.
