P&F News

Welcome Back! Wishing you and your family a great 2024.

We have already laid out a big year for the P&F both in terms of social events and investments in enriching the school experience for the students.  We will share more about these as the year unfolds, in summary these are;

  • Bogan Bingo – Saturday 4 May will be an entertaining evening, hold the date, we look forward to seeing you in your best flanno or black T-shirt.
  • We are partnering with the school to provide more playground equipment in both the ECC and Primary areas with an emphasis on climbing equipment such as monkey bars.
  • Have provided funds for two guest speakers to talk to parents about topical parenting issues, there will be a pre-talk sundowner to give parents a chance to socialise.
  • We are working with the school to reset our focus and objectives and hope to be able to report to you soon how we have more closely aligned these with the school and wider school community.

We are also looking forward to our annual Sundowner, for those new to our community it will be held on Friday 9 February in the Pratten Centre courtyard straight after the parent information sessions.  For the first time this year, with the help of the school we are pleased to offer child minding services to make it easier for parents to attend.

Our Dads in the Great Southern (DIGS) continues to grow. In Term One the boys are holding a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle to raise money for their upcoming events, if you’d like to be a part of this, please email, me.  A call out to all dads who wish to join DIGS, they meet every second Wednesday at the Premier Hotel for an informal get-together, please email me to be put on the mailing list.

I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to be involved with all that we have going on this year.  It can be as simple as being a volunteer at an event or being a year representative for your year group.  As always we are looking for your input as to what activities or investments we can undertake to enrich our school community.

Dads in the Great Southern (DIGS)

A big welcome to the 2024 school year to all GSG families!

The DIGS group sits within the school P&F and was formed with the aim of facilitating specific connections between the fathers and father figures of children at the school.

Originally an initiative of the Fathering Project https://thefatheringproject.org/, school based Dads Groups encourage and support dads and other male role models to build positively engaged families for the benefit of their children and the community.

DIGS events for Term One
