Principal's Panorama

Miss Justine Goonan

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a wonderful start to the year at Sacred Heart School! It has been filled with events including our Swimming Carnival, Ash Wednesday Mass, Shrove Tuesday pancake cook up, as well as visits from Al Skate Co and Murray Conservatorium facilitating lessons for our students.

We have welcomed 10 cheerful and enthusiastic Foundation students and a new family to our school, which sees us with an enrolment of 53 students in 2024.

Our new Foundation students have been having lots of fun with Miss Whitehead, learning about school routines, activities and getting to know what 'big school' is all about.

As well as welcoming new students, we have also welcomed Mrs Nagy into a permanent Specialist Teacher role at Sacred Heart for 2024. Marie is leading our Arts subject on a Friday and continues to support our school as a Casual Relief Teacher as well.

Maryann Leonard who has worked at Sacred Heart School as a Chaplain, Teacher and Learning Support Officer in recent years, as well as the Anglican Minister in the Corryong community has received a new opportunity to support the Tallangatta Parish and Trinity Anglican School in 2024. This has meant that Maryann hasn't again joined us in the Learning Support Officer Role this year, but we hope to give her a big farewell with students and Staff before she leaves Corryong at the end of Term One.

No Buses

Please note that there will be no buses, next Wednesday the 21st of February as Corryong College is having a Pupil Free Day. Parents and Carers will be required to bring their child/ren to and from school.

Parent Teacher Meetings

In Term One our focus for Parent Teacher Meetings is for Staff, Students and Parents/Carers to get to know one another, discuss the child's strengths, interests, important family information, etc. We are going to trial running these meetings during the school day on Monday the 26th of February. This will be a Pupil Free Day for all students, and Parents and Carers will be invited to make a time (further details to come) where Parents and Carers and their child will attend the Parent Teacher Meeting together.

Community BBQ

We warmly invite all Sacred Heart School Community Members to our BBQ on Monday the 4th of March. This is a great opportunity for our new community members to meet other families and for our students and families to enjoy a fun evening. Please see the calendar section of this newsletter, for further details.

Classroom Teacher Weekly Emails

Our Teachers share a weekly update of what is upcoming in your child's/ren's classrooms, including what they're learning, any reminders as well as important dates. Please let us know if you aren't receiving these and we will be sure to fix this.

Student Absence

If your child is away on any school day, please contact the office by calling 60761138 or via email admin@shcorryong.catholic.edu.au by 9am.

We ask that if your child/ren are displaying any cold like symptoms, that they remain at home to rest and get better.

Please don't hesitate to contact me via phone or email principal@shcorryong.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions. Or please see the School News section for all teacher email addresses.
