Level 2

2024 Level  2  WhatsApp group

We are excited to announce the introduction of our 2024 level WhatsApp groups.

2024 families, please use your phone to scan the QR code below.  Each level currently has a parent representative. The role of the parent representative is to regularly check in with teachers and post anything on the chat that is helpful to families in remembering the many things happening at HEPS. All families must read the norms below before agreeing to join the group.

2024 WhatsApp norms

The purpose of this group is to share information and keep us up to date with events relevant to our level. By joining this group, you agree to be respectful and courteous. All participants will be friendly and kind in their messaging. As this is not an official school channel, any questions about the general running of the school from an academic or Education Department perspective or involving any staff member should be raised with school leadership.

The purpose of this group is to share information; any disagreements between people in the chat will be resolved offline and outside of the group. We all acknowledge that any message that is deemed by the level representative (s) to not meet these rules will be deleted. Continued failure to abide by the rules will result in the removal of the offending person (s) or the disbanding of the group.

Level 2

It has certainly been a busy and fun-filled fortnight, welcoming our students back to HEPS for the year. It has been wonderful to see our students feeling so enthusiastic about their Grade 2 journey and for them to have settled so quickly into the routines and expectations of Grade 2.

Positive Start

Level 2 students have enjoyed participating in this year’s Positive Start program where they have explored our school values of Growth, Respect, Teamwork and Resilience, and have become familiar with our new Values Posters. They have enjoyed playing lots of ‘getting to know you’ games, have worked hard to learn new names, and it has been wonderful to see many students also making a new friend or two! We have explored our ‘friendship superpowers’ by making ourselves into Friendship Ninjas, with many students identifying fun, funny, kind and helpful as their biggest friendship strengths. Students have played many team building/getting to know you games and have enjoyed eating picnic lunches with the whole cohort outside.

Students have been busy getting themselves organised and set up for the year. They have crafted tub labels, set up workbooks, organised their book boxes and home reading pouches, they have learnt new processes for our laptop and iPad time as well as for borrowing books from the library. They are all so excited for the ‘real learning’ to begin next week!

A huge thank you to everyone who assisted and attended the Positive Start BBQ last Friday. It was great to see so many families in attendance!

Next fortnight we are learning about:

Reading: Making connections, and monitoring & self correcting

Writing: Procedures, Organisation and Ideas Traits

Maths: Data collection and display, skip counting

Inquiry: Past and present
