Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church.

St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parish's ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Welcome back to another exciting school year at St Anthony’s!

We all hope you had a restful and rejuvenating break, and we're thrilled to have both familiar faces and new members join our vibrant school community.

This year we welcome some new staff to our St Anthony’s community. I know that everyone will join me in welcoming Celina Korack our Visual Arts teacher, Venessa Calamba who is teaching Year 3/4 CA. Mary Diaco who worked as a learning support officer last year is now teaching Year 1/2 DI, Suzanne Hennequin is now teaching Performing Arts and Linda Ly has moved from Japanese to teach Prep. We have a new music therapist starting soon and we are in the process of employing a new Japanese teacher. Whilst this process continues Helen Nguyen is working with classes on Social Emotional Learning and getting to know each other lessons. This is a great way to assist our students feel comfortable and settled in their new classes and as the new school year commences.

It has been fabulous to see everyone already enjoying being back at school, seeing their friends, teachers and their new learning spaces. Our 2024 Preps joined us and it has been such a pleasure meeting all the students, parents, carers and grandparents.

Child Safe Standard 9: Your organisation makes sure children are safe when they use your services, settings, and activities. This includes when children are online.

School gates open at 8.30am with classrooms opening at 8.40am. We ask that children are not dropped at school before 8.30am as there is no supervision availble for them. School pick up is at 3.20pm until 3.35pm. Children who have not been picked up by 3.35pm will be taken to after school care.

Please remember to drive safely in the school car park and at the back gate. It is important that no cars double park or block other cars in, this makes the car park dangerous for children. Please note that there is no right hand turn onto Buckley St at drop off or pick up times, this is to ensure child safety and that traffic moves smoothly.

Our Prep Welcome & Buddy Picnic is on Tuesday 13th February between  5.30pm - 6.30pm. All Prep and Year 5/6 families are invited to join us, we will gather near the Junior Playground for a BBQ

Meet the Teacher Conversations

Our Meet the Teacher Conversations are next Monday 19th February from 1.30pm - 6.30pm. School finishes at 1pm so that we can ensure all parents have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher. Interviews are strictly 10 minutes and spaces are limited. The purpose of these interviews is to get to know you, your child and your hopes and dreams for your child’s learning in 2024. If you require more time with a particular teacher, please arrange a separate meeting by telephoning the school on 95460044.

2024 promises to be a year full of exciting new opportunities and great learning. This year we focus on ‘The Light of Christ’. We will be exploring how we can be filled with the light of Christ, we can be inspired by the light of Christ and how we can share this light with others.
