House Cross Country - Monday 29th April

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Kalinda House Cross Country on Monday. Running a long-distance race is challenging and we were so proud of everyone’s efforts and determination to push themselves to achieve their absolute best. Completing the race is an achievement in itself, regardless of what place you finish, so well done to everyone involved.

The Foundation students kicked off the day, racing first. They ran two laps of the oval and were assisted by the Grade 5/6 students, who formed a circle around the oval to cheer them on as they completed their first ever Cross Country.

The other age groups completed their cross-country around the 1km course. The Grade 1 & 2 students completed 1 lap, the 9/10 year olds 2 laps and the 11 year olds and 12/13 year olds completed 3 laps of the course. All students run exceptionally well, and it was fantastic to see such great team spirit where students were supporting and encouraging one another.

On the day students were awarded house points for completing their race and additional house points were awarded to those who finished in the top 12.

Final Results

1st Place – Chisholm House on 3860 points

2nd place – Parkes House on 3250 points

3rd place – Melba House on 3050 points

4th place – McCubbin House on 2340 points

Well done to all the house teams and a massive congratulations to those in

Chisholm House, winning the Kalinda Cross Country for the first time in many years!

A special congratulations to those students who finished in the top 12 in the 9/10, 11 and 12 & 13 year old age groups as you will be invited to compete at the next level of competition which is District on Tuesday 14th May. 11th and 12th place holders will be listed as emergencies. Further information regarding this will be sent out on Compass. We wish these students all the best with their preparations in the lead up to this event.

Thank you to all the staff for your help and support, and thank you to all the parents and grandparents who volunteered to assist! Thank you for guiding the students in the right direction and providing them with lots of encouragement. These days cannot run successfully without the help of the Kalinda community, so thank you again for your time!

Kind Regards,
