This week for reading in grade 2, we are learning to make predictions during reading

VOCABULARY

Text clues: Pictures or words in the text that help you prepare to make predictions.

Prior Knowledge: What I already know about a topic that can add to make my prediction more accurate. 

Prediction: A guess about what will happen next in the text based on the above. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When completing home reading, prompt your child to make a prediction about their dot book before reading the text.

“I predict…the text clues are ... my prior knowledge is … So I predict …”
