Specialist Happenings

 Mandarin

Students have been crafting written self-introductions, showcasing their language skills and cultural backgrounds with confidence and creativity.

In their introductions, students have shared their names, ages, nationality backgrounds, and birthdays in Mandarin. This exercise not only strengthens their language proficiency but also encourages self-expression and cultural awareness.

Physical Education

Welcome back to term 2. A busy term with lessons, L5/6 sport and the L3-6 cross country carnival.

F-2's have been working on kicking skills, with particular focus on keeping their eyes on the ball, foot placement and following through their kick. This has started with stationary kicking and dribbling with soccer balls and will move to footballs in the coming weeks.

Level 3-6's are preparing for the cross-country carnival on Thursday 2nd May by practicing their long-distance running skills. Students are encouraged to find a pace they can sustain for a long period, breathing techniques and to do the "Cliffy Shuffle" rather than walk if they get tired. They are also preparing for next term's athletics carnival with different events being a part of all PE lessons.

Level 5 & 6 Interschool Sport

Term 2 sport for L/56 students commences on Friday May 3rd. Students will need to be at their coaches learning are by 8.45am for a 9am departure. All teams require parent helpers, so please contact your child’s sports coach if you can help out. You are required to have a WWC to volunteer.

Girl's volleyball team through to division!!!

On Wednesday morning our girls’ volleyball team played off against Hampton PS to determine the overall winner for term 1. There were some great skills, backing up and encouragement throughout the game, with SEPS coming out on top 2-0. As the division playoffs will be in term 4 as they are a summer sport, training will recommence in term 3. Congratulations girls, we are very proud of what you have achieved and how far you’ve come.

VISUAL ART

Fabulous Art!

Here are some stunning Black and White creations by 1C students. We looked at some Black & White artworks by various artists and talked about how to contrast black and white in layers and in sizes. The children chose their materials and practised cutting and pasting and creating with their own ideas. You can see these beautiful creations just inside the door to the stadium next to the canteen. What a wonderful effort!
