Principal  Message

I return from my leave with a very grateful heart for the support that the community has shown me. Thanks for all the well wishes and thank you to Rick for taking on the Acting Principal role. Rick agreed to take the role on to support me and the school, and I appreciate the extra load he and the teachers took on during my absence.

My surgery was a success, and it is now just the recovery that I am working through. I will be working with modified hours for the remainder of the term. I appreciate your patience in relation to my availability at this time.

Respect Blitz

We strongly believe in nurturing a positive and inclusive environment for all students. As part of an action plan that staff have devised to build this culture, the school will be focussing on delivery of lessons, assemblies and whole school activities throughout this term that focus on our school value, Respect.  Respect is the foundation of healthy relationships, empathy, and understanding. By prioritising respect, we aim to create a safe and supportive space where every student feels valued and heard. We want our students to develop the ability to appreciate and embrace differences, to treat others with kindness and dignity, and to recognise the importance of respecting themselves and their own boundaries. Through various initiatives, such as awareness campaigns, assembly activities, and classroom discussions, we are seeking to empower our students to become respectful individuals who contribute positively to their community.

What this will look like in the classroom to begin with is all classes learning, practising and applying what respect looks like when there is explicit teaching taking place. Teachers will provide a consistent message across all levels by modelling and allowing time to practise how students can demonstrate respect during this valuable learning time. We will be using the Respectful Relationship curriculum throughout the term to support this initiative.

We have also introduced a Principal Award that will be given out to students who have been demonstrating through their actions and words the value of respect. This may be while competing in sports, inside the classroom, outside during playtime or when interacting with the teachers or peers. We want to acknowledge students for these actions and let them know that we as a school appreciates the contribution they make to our school through their positive behaviour. We will provide you with notice if your child is going to receive this award, so you have the option to attend the assembly.

Last week, Luca in Grade 1/2L, received this the Principal Award for always demonstrating respect towards his peers and teachers. Luca goes out of his way every day to be sure he considers others and their point of view and be a good friend and learner. Well done, Luca!

Meg Steed

Our Prep teacher, Meg Steed finished up on Friday 10th May, and we would like to take this opportunity to wish her all the very best in the birth of her third child. In her short time here, Meg has made many valuable contributions to the planning and delivery of the Prep program and her students have developed a very positive routine for learning and play under her guidance. We are currently recruiting for a replacement teacher in the school.

Canteen changes

From Friday 10th May the Canteen will no longer be offering over the counter sales at recess. It has become difficult to staff the morning timeslot. Orders for lunch remain the same and students can still do over the counter sales at lunchtime.

Have a great week.

Take care
