Congratulations to:

Solution: A.
The 2 dollars. it may seem not much, but it is more $20x7=$140 2+4+8+16+32+64=$254 so the 2 dollars is the answer. B. First, find 2 to the power of 30, which is just 1024x1024x1024 (because 1024 is 2 to the power of 10 and that 3 times multiplied together is 2 to the power of 30.) The answer to that is 1,073,741,824. Then multiply that by 2 because of the numbers before that. that equals 2,147,483,648. Finally, minus 2 which will give you 2,147,483,646. (Which is the answer.)

Solution: A.
I would rather be paid $2 for the first day and have your salary double every day for a week because my pay would be (2+4+8+16+32+64+128=) $254 rather than (20x7=)$140. This way, I would make $114 more. b. n=initial amount x (2) ^number of days n=2x2^30 n=$2,147,483,648 You would've earned $2,147,483,648.
Kudos to both the students. It was wonderful to see the thinking and reasoning behind the solution. It was a good reinforcement that there are multiple ways to get to the correct solution.
Staff member mention: Lisa Hazelwood: She persevered till she got the correct solution.
