ANZAC Day Services

Last week our students were amazing ambassadors for the College, respectfully participating in both our Charlton College ANZAC Service, as well as the community service.

On Wednesday 24th we welcomed our guest speaker Captain Paul Scott. As part of his presentation, Paul had conducted some research into Watson Paterson, an ex-serviceman who enlisted with the RAAF in 1942. Watson Paterson was the father of Sue Walsh and great-grandfather of Ethan, Isabel and Angus Soulsby. Ethan did a fantastic job of sharing the information with the audience- well done Ethan. It was a special moment to see Paul present Sue with Watson’s service records, which he had accessed from the Australian War Memorial.

Our students also participated in the Charlton ANZAC Day Service, with our student leaders laying wreaths at the cenotaph and a number of students joining in the march and convening at the Shire Hall.

I sincerely thank our students and our College community for their involvement in these important events.

Mother’s Day Fete

Tomorrow is our annual Mother’s Day Fete. Details of the day can be found in the newsletter. Parents and family members are reminded that if students do not remain at school until 3.15pm, they MUST be signed out at the Office please. Big thanks in advance to everyone who contributes to the fete in any way, it is a massive undertaking, and we are very grateful for your efforts!

Student teachers

In the past few weeks, we have had a number of tertiary students join us to complete the practicum component of their course. Last week we bid farewell to Ruby Campbell from LaTrobe University. Ruby was working with us for 2 weeks in the English and Health faculties. This week we welcome Jiyu Chen who is studying a Master of Teaching at ACU. Jiyu will be a part of the Maths and Science team for the next 4 weeks.

Welcome back Mr. Daff!

Next week we welcome back Mr. Daff and no doubt he has missed us all! I would like to thank the staff, students and parents who have been very supportive to me over the past 2 weeks and have made the acting role easier!

Breakfast Club

It's back! Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning next Wednesday 8th May 8.40am in the canteen. Breakfast is very important. It improves your energy levels and ability to concentrate in the short erm, and can help with better weight management, reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease in the long term.

All students welcome.
