Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Friends,

A warm welcome to Term 3.

Thank you for preparing your children so well to begin the term. We appreciate the effort that goes into ensuring uniforms are organised and school bags are packed and ready.

A special welcome to the Marshall family who have joined our SJB community this term. We are delighted to have you with us and look forward to getting to know you.

We have many exciting events planned this term, including our Book Week celebrations, Father’s Day celebrations and the hard work and organisation leading up to our school Fete! Please keep an eye on our school newsletter and Compass for important dates and details.

Sacramental Celebrations

The term’s highlights will include the celebrations of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion.

Last night, many of our Year 6 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation under the guidance of Bishop Brian and Father Patrick. This was a truly beautiful celebration and I was immensely proud of each and every one our students. Bishop Brian focussed on the courage these students demonstrated by confirming their baptismal promises at Confirmation. Bishop Brian left this message with the students:

By being sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation...

You are not alone.

The Church is with you.

The Spirit is within you.

And Jesus is walking beside you.

We keep the Year 6 students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation tonight in our prayers.

Meanwhile, our Year 3 students have begun their preparation for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, which Father Patrick will celebrate on Sunday, 17 August and Sunday 24 August.  Preparing for Holy Communion is an important journey for students.  It focuses on helping them understand a huge part of their faith: getting ready to receive Jesus for the very first time in the Eucharist. It is about helping students build their own special connection with Jesus and learn about and appreciate the meaning of the mass. This ensures students come to this sacred celebration feeling truly ready and understanding its importance. Please keep these students and their teachers in your prayers.

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.  Please see the "School Handbook" for a full list of eligible awards.
