Early Departure Procedures – A Reminder to Parents
We kindly remind families that it is essential to follow the correct process if you need to collect your daughter during the school day for a pre-planned appointment. For the well-being and smooth operation of the College, students should not be collected without prior notice.
If your daughter needs to leave early, please ensure she has a written note in her diary on the day. This allows her to show the note to her classroom teacher and make her way to the office at the designated time. This process avoids unnecessary interruptions to learning and supports the safe and timely departure of students.
Unfortunately, when parents arrive without prior notice or a note in the diary, it creates significant delays and impacts our ability to manage both student supervision and other school responsibilities effectively.
We appreciate your support in following this procedure to help us maintain a well-organised and respectful learning environment.
Communication Protocol During School Hours
We kindly remind both students and parents that students should not be contacting parents directly using personal mobile phones or messaging apps on their school devices during the school day, for any reason. This particularly becomes evident when a parent arrives at the College to drop off equipment, sports uniform, etc, for their daughter who requires it for a lesson on the same day.
This is a duty of care issue. For safety and well-being, all communication between home and school must go through official channels, either via Student Services or a supervising teacher. Parents needing to get a message to their child should contact Reception on 4737 5500.
If a student breaches this policy, a mobile phone warning will be issued. As per our processes, three mobile phone warnings result in an afternoon detention as per our school's behaviour policy.
We appreciate your support in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
Compass: Access to Teacher Communication
It is great to see more and more of our parent community accessing Compass to communicate with their daughter’s teachers. We would like to highlight to our parents that you have the opportunity to deselect which teacher/s you would like to notify. Please refer to the image below that shows you where to go to be able to deselect any teachers that aren’t required to be notified. Simply click on the red X to remove the teacher from that list.
Further to this, please ensure to use this function of de-selecting classroom teachers when sharing sensitive information. In this instance, if sensitive information is to be shared, please ensure that only the homeroom teacher and/or Year Leader are selected in the first instance.
A Safe and Supportive School Environment
We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students. As part of our ongoing efforts to prevent bullying, we utilise a range of proactive measures, including PIVOT, Wellio, and SchoolTV resources, in alignment with the CSPD policy: Bullying of Students: Prevention and Response Procedure. These platforms provide valuable insights into student well-being, empower staff to address concerns early, and equip parents with tools to support their children.
PIVOT helps us track student experiences and identify areas for improvement, ensuring every voice is heard. Wellio supports positive peer relationships and resilience-building, while SchoolTV offers expert guidance on bullying prevention and mental health. Together, these initiatives strengthen our school community, reinforcing a culture of respect and kindness. We encourage parents, students, and staff to engage with these resources as we work collaboratively to create a bullying-free environment.
