August Keystone

"Respect"

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful athletics day on 1st August and got to see our children shine in an athletic way. Thanks to all those volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly, particularly the St Bede's boys and their teachers who joined us on the day.

Thanks also to the Melissa Harder and the hard working members of the PA, along with our many parent and staff volunteers who organised and supervised a fun disco night on 1st August.

The foundation 100 days of school was a lovely celebration and the children looked "bright" in their "100 days brighter" outfits - so did the teachers!

We had a fantastic staff professional learning day with Nathaniel Swain on 8th August. Please check out the "MACS Flourishing Learners" tab to find out more about the day from our Literacy Leader - Carolyn Hunter.

Our Year 4 children who are receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion attended a commitment Mass on Saturday with their families. It was lovely to see so many families join with the parish to celebrate the next milestone in these children's faith journey.

On Friday we will be celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. Please feel free to join us at 9.00 a.m. for Mass in the church.

CONFIRMATION:

On Saturday 16th August our Year 6 children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Mark's Church at 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. We wish the confirmation candidates and their families a joyous celebration and congratulate them on this very important step in their faith journey.

BOOK WEEK DRESS UP PARADE:

Our book week dress up parade will take place on Friday 22nd August at 8.50 a.m. We will need to start sharply at 8.50 a.m. as the children in years F - 4 will be involved in an incursion at 9.15 a.m. with  an author, to celebrate book week. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character.

BOOK FAIR:

To continue the celebration of book week, Gina, our wonderful library manager has organised a book fair that will commence on Monday 25th August. The opening hours are:

Monday 25th August: 3.20 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

Tuesday 26th August: 8.15 a.m. - 9.00 a.m. and 3.20 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

Wednesday 27th August: 8.15 a.m. - 9.00 a.m. and 3.20 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

CHILD SAFETY REMINDER:

Unfortunately there are still children being left unattended at the school gates prior to 8.30 a.m. Can I please remind all families that this is not a safe practice and children should not be at school prior to 8.30 a.m. regardless of whether they are being dropped off by car or making their own way to school on their bike or on foot. We all need to take responsibility for the safety of our children. School gates are not supervised until 8.30 a.m. when staff are officially due on site.

Thanks for your co-operation and for taking appropriate measures to ensure your children are safe. If you need to drop your child at school prior to 8.30 a.m. we have a before school care program run by Team Kids that is available for you to utilise. Please see the Team Kids page in this newsletter for details on how to book in to the program.
