Principal's Report
Kaylene Kubeil
What a very proud start to Week 3, as I was able to present a Principal's Award to one of our Year 3/4 students, James. James absolutely deserved this award as he has shown our school's expectation of HELP OTHERS SUCCEED. Well done, James!
In Semester One, we made some changes to our school report format. Most of these changes were made to support the implementation of the updated Victorian Curriculum 2.0, but also to help our families understand their children's learning and wellbeing achievements. As we value our school communities' opinions, we are seeking some feedback with regards to this new format (a 2-3 minute survey)
We were also very fortunate to have Rob Mitchell MP visit our school. Rob shared with our school community that his grandfather attended WPS nearly 100 years ago. It never stops to amaze me the strong history of the school and how connected the school is to the broader school community. Our school has a strong history and legacy, as each year we become one year closer to our 150th birthday in 2028! Thank you for our new flags that are now very proudly flying at the front of our school.
Well done to these students, Levi, Peyton, Lillian, Isla and Tyler, who achieved the 100% Attendance Awards for all of Semester One. A great sign of our dedication and commitment to your schooling at WPS - Well Done!
The Bullying No Way: National week of action from Monday 11 to Friday 15 August 2025 is a chance for schools to continue to create safe and respectful school environments and address all forms of bullying, including online.
This year’s theme is ‘Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up’. It encourages students and school staff to speak up and foster safe spaces where everyone feels supported and respected, and all voices are heard and valued.
The Child Safe Standards help ensure students feel safe and are safe. Child Safe Standard 9 requires schools to promote a culture of physical and online safety for all students. Bullying No Way: National Week of Action is a chance to connect schools and communities and raise awareness to prevent bullying and violence.
Once again, we will be selling Bullying - No Way Wrist Bands. These will be sold before school and from the office.
Staffing Update: I would like to let our school community know that Julie Cook has decided to retire from the Department of Education (and Whittlesea Primary School) effective from 12th August 2025. Whilst in my time as Principal, Julie has been on leave, so many of our newest families may not have been aware of Julie's past commitments and dedication to the students of WPS. We thank Julie for her services to the school and wish her all the best for her future.
Enjoy your weekends,
Kaylene
