Grade 2

English 

The Grade 2's will continue their Core Knowledge unit, 'Inventors and Inventions.' They will focus on combining 2-3 sentences with conjunctions and pronouns. In Week 4, they will begin a new Core Knowledge unit, 'Growing Colonies in Australia.' They will explore the following questions: 

• Why did the British people come to Australia? 
• How did British explorers contribute to the growth of the colonies in Australia? 
• What was the daily life of an early settler in Australia like? 

Mathematics 

The students will be using number expanders to represent 3 digit numbers. They will also be exploring Area, Mass and division by skip counting.

Inquiry

As part of our 150 Years of Barwon Heads Primary School unit, the Grade 2's will be exploring the Wadawurrung connection to Barwon Heads. They will also be learning about William Buckley and the history of Bollards in Barwon Heads, before drafting their own bollard design.
