Grade 1

English 

The Grade 1s will continue their Core Knowledge unit, 'The Culture of Indonesia.' The students will explore: 

• What is Indonesia and where is it in the world? 
• What would you see if you travelled through Indonesia? 
• What kinds of celebrations take place in Indonesia? 
• What kinds of art and craft traditions do people have in Indonesia? 
• What is life like for the people of Indonesia? 

Students will be learning to combine sentences to make one sentence using the conjunction 'and.' 

Mathematics 

The students will be learning about the split strategy for addition, area, mass and problems involving equal groups.

Inquiry

As part of our 150 Years of Barwon Heads Primary School unit, the students will be comparing past and present photos of BHPS. The students will discuss what they love most about our school and write/draw about something that they love to do at school. 

In Week 4, the students will learn about the Bollards in Barwon Heads and begin drafting their own Bollard design.
