Welcome back to a new school year! We hope everyone had a relaxing and refreshing holiday break and is feeling ready for an exciting year ahead.

As we begin the year, we would love to share our club video with you, a great snapshot of what makes the Great Southern Griffins such a special community.

Upcoming Winter Sports

Nominations for our winter sports are now open! Please submit your nomination as soon as possible by clicking the links below.

New to Griffins? Start by nominating.

Each sport begins with a call for nominations to join a team. Committees review nominations and form teams based on numbers received (and grading, where required).

Nominate early to give yourself the best chance of securing a place. Once teams are finalised, you will receive an invitation to complete your formal registration.

A link to order dresses will be sent out tomorrow. Samples will be available to try on at the trials. The cut-off for ordering is Sunday 22 February. Please add a reminder to your calendar so you do not miss out.

Griffins Volleyball

Volunteers Needed

If we are ever going to say we are desperate for volunteers, it is now! Many of you will know that school staff (Mr Paul Donaldson and prior to that, Mr Nathan Symonds) have previously carried the baton for volleyball. This year, however, under the Griffins' banner, we must form a volunteer group to coordinate it, as we do with our other winter sports. Mr Donaldson will still be involved on the GSG/school front; however, it is essential that we have three or four adult volunteers to share some of the other tasks.

Griffins Basketball

Raiders News

A big shout-out to Mark Hirst and Harrison Boucher, who proudly represented the U13 Albany Raiders Team Two at the end of last year. With three wins from five games, the boys achieved some great results and represented the Griffins with pride.

Congratulations also to Griffins' own Harry Tidbury, who represented the Raiders in U13 Team One. While the boys did not come away with a win, they showed great determination and effort throughout the tournament.

Well done, Harry, Mark and Harrison!

Griffins’ player Marley Cox also represented Albany at the 2026 Under-18 Boys Country Championships last weekend. It is fantastic to see Marley achieving at such a high level, well done!

Training Location Change

Please note that the gym will be closed for training on Friday 6 February, teams are to use the outdoor courts.

Griffins Merchandise and Uniforms

Players can order the Griffins training gear and supporter merchandise from the Griffins site Shop - Great Southern Griffins. A range of hoodies, tops, pants and accessories are available to buy. There are limited stocks of hoodies, but more will be added at the end of the month.

The club also has a Uniform Buy/Sell/Swap Facebook group for those looking to exchange Griffins items Great Southern Griffins Uniform Buy/Sell/Swap
