Kaaleep

Welcome to ‘Kaaleep’ (in Menang) Camp Fire/Meeting Place.
Here, we support our Indigenous students, families and carers, both local and from distant Country.
Kaaleep at GSG is a place where we advocate for and celebrate our students throughout their educational journey.
We provide:
- connection with local Elders and community leaders
- cultural enrichment opportunities (both external programs and in‑school experiences)
- social and personal wellbeing support
- academic support
TAFE and tertiary pathways guidance
We work closely with our Executive team, teachers, Learning Support team, Boarding team, scholarship providers (MADALAH and Yalari) and external organisations that align with GSG values.
Please note that student check‑ins will take place once a week, on Mondays, to ensure everyone is feeling positive, organised and able to make the most of their schooling. We also encourage parents, families and carers to reach out if you need support.
In 2026 to start the year strong, we have a couple of programs we welcome students to participate in -
First Stories Program with Centre For Stories
Monday 16 to Friday 20 February
Through workshops at the Fish Traps, a short walk from GSG, we aim to build confidence in our Indigenous students and strengthen their interpersonal connections through storytelling and creative activities. The workshops will be delivered alongside local Elders and community leaders. Parents and family members are warmly invited to join us.
The program will take place after school at 3.30pm and all Indigenous students are encouraged to participate each afternoon, particularly those on MADALAH and Yalari scholarships. If you would like to attend, or if you have a story or activity you would like to contribute to the program, we would love to hear from you. Read more here. Specific information will be sent to you via email shortly.
Warmth,
Miss Madi van der List & Mr Lewis Ward | Indigenous Student Support Officers
