Library Update (HUGE NEWS)

Howdy all,
Firstly, to all the new families at the school, and on behalf of our library, welcome! I can’t wait to meet all the new students and introduce them to the wonderful world of the CNPS library.
For the new families, here’s a quick backstory re our wonderful library. Due to the government grant the school received last year our old and much-loved library was moved from the Karawun building into the Mannerlong building. Anyone who talked to me about it last year would know I was hesitant (that’s polite speak for freaked out) about moving from our beautiful, light filled library space to the hall. I’d worked in the old library space for around 19 years and watched the seasons and students move through. To say I was attached to it is something of an understatement...
WELL.
I walked into the new library this morning and WOW. It was a jaw-dropping experience. Both humbling and a bit overwhelming. Colour me shocked and goose bumped (is there a colour for these things? Is goose bumped a word?) The architects and builders have done a beautiful and professional job. For those of you with a soft spot for the old library, I think you’ll be pleased with our new space.
I aim to have the library up and running by the Wednesday, the 4th of March.
There is still much to be done.
The biggest hurdle is moving the books across to the new library. Enter our ‘library chain of love’, where the books will be transferred from the temporary library to the new library via our 'student chain'. The Hill of Content bookshop did this last year with their community. I think it's a great idea and symbolic of a close and committed community. This will hopefully prove to be quick and efficient transfer. I'm a born optimist...
The chain of love will happen next Thursday, the 12th Feb. From 9.15 am until it's done. We won't be including the Foundation students. They have enough going on without this sort of organised chaos adding to their confusion. Parents are welcome to be involved, if you have some spare time, but I think we'll be fine with just the students tbh.
Thank you all for your patience. I know the students are super keen to get back to library capers. We are getting very close to that 😊
Kim xx (who’s busy thinking about plants for the new space when she should be thinking about books 😉).
