This Week in the Art Room...

Year 5/6 kicked off this week with a bang, creating incredible painted papers. These beautiful paintings are going to be used by all students across the school for collage and mixed media projects. Things got messy (ahem 5/6J) but we had a ball and we now have some incredible textures and colours to work with throughout the year. Thanks 5/6 legends!

Student Learning 3/4

In 3/4O We kicked off the year by setting some goals! We talked about our school values, the kind of people we want to be, and what we’d love to achieve by the end of the year. Everyone chose personal and learning goals and shared different ways they can work towards reaching them. A great start to the year!

Year 3/4J Learning Mantras

To start off Term 1 in Year 3/4J, we explored The Learning Pit and how authentic, deep learning doesn’t happen without challenges, mistakes, and moments of struggle. Rather than viewing these as negative experiences, we see them as an important part of growing our brains and building resilience.

Students then created their own personal learning mantras to use when learning feels tricky or when challenges arise. These positive self-talk statements will help them persist, take risks, and approach challenges with a growth mindset throughout the year. As you can see, they came up with some fantastic mantras!
