The 3/4s have done an amazing job settling into their learning environments and classroom routines and expectations. The students have shown lots of enthusiasm over the past two weeks, making a positive start to all learning areas!
Reading
The past few weeks we have been continuing our novel study- "Brindabella". The students have taken part in class reading, and engaged in class discussions. As we read we have focussed on the environment, character feelings and experiences, dialogue, and thought about our own opinions on what the characters might do. We are also learning new vocabulary words, that we have been identifying as we read.
Writing
In writing we have been exploring and practicing our narrative writing. We have been using modelled adventure narratives to explore different ideas and narrative structure. The students have been practicing and planning using different planning templates, which has helped them to improve their writing fluency and accuracy when they started their narratives this week.
Maths
We have started our maths unit this year exploring Place Value. We have been learning about ordering numbers, writing numbers in expanded form and renaming numbers.
Here is some of the great maths work we have seen in 3/4B the past two weeks!

Discovery
This term in discovery we are focussing on Democracy, with the big idea of "who makes the rules and decisions around here". Last week we focussed on rules and why we have them, and this week we explored our local council, and what they do for the community.
Wellbeing
We began our wellbeing program last week with a collaborative activity in our classrooms. Each group made outfits out of newspaper and toilet paper. Students were encouraged to share ideas, listen to each other, and work together to achieve the same goal! The 3/4 classes had lots of fun with this. We have also started The Resilience Project this week, focussing on recognising different emotions.
