Preps settling in

Our wonderful Preps have settled in beautifully into the routines of school and we cannot believe we are near the end of Week 4. Our Homework and Library programs have started, and it is great to see our Prep students really keen and enthusiastic. We have one more week where the children don't come to school on Wednesdays due to testing, and then as of Monday the 2nd of March, the students will be at school every day. Thank you to all our Prep parents who have been so supportive in helping their child transition and settle into school.

Discovery

We are very fortunate in Prep as we have our own room dedicated to Discovery. We have gone into this room already a couple of times and the children absolutely love the space. In Discovery they are encouraged to play, create, problem solve, use their imagination, cooperate, share and build friendships, and that they have been doing. There is Lego, a huge sand box with dinosaurs, a farmers' market, a puppet theatre, dress - ups, playdough to build things, a craft table and LOTS more. Watch this space for some wonderful creations. 

Language Experience

Every Friday, as part of our literacy program, we have a Language Experience where we create, make or experience something so the children can draw or write about it. So far, all the Preps had a wonderful time playing together in the sand pit and last week, we made pictures out of tin foil. They came up with amazing pictures and creations. Please come into our grades to see these. 

Maths

Over the last 4 weeks, we have been concentrating on reading, creating, counting and forming numbers to 10. We have also been learning about making collections of counters, and which is more or less. The Preps are doing so well and are enjoying learning using concrete materials and playing fun maths games such as Bingo and Buzz. Keep practising writing those numbers at home Preps! 

Reminders

• Preps will come to school EVERY day as of Monday, 2nd of March.
• Please do not enter the classroom or the prep corridor until the music starts in the mornings as the class teachers may not be in there.
• Homework bags return to school on Fridays and are given out on the Monday with new books to read.
