EAL (English as an Additional Language) 

As we embark on a fresh school year and extend a warm welcome to all students new to our VSC community, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and applaud the outstanding VCE results of our 2025 EAL cohort. These overseas-born students who faced the additional challenge of still learning English whilst completing their rigorous VCE courses have set a great example for those who follow. 

It fills me with great pride to see EAL students achieve ATAR scores in the “99 and above” range and celebrate a mean study score of our 2025 Year 12 EAL cohort which again beat all expectations. 

For families who do not speak English at home, remote learning and other COVID disruptions posed enormous additional challenges but could not hold back our hard-working and determined EAL students. They persevered, collaborated and courageously experimented with unfamiliar learning approaches to excel in the end. We are confident that our 2025 EAL graduates will continue to make use of every opportunity offered as they continue their learning journey. We look forward to welcoming our highest achievers to celebrate their top scores during the VCE Presentation Assembly on 19th February.
