Principal, Ms Alex Montgomery

As our school year draws to a close, I have been reflecting on the many moments that have shaped 2025 at Edgeworth Public School.

Recently, during our Presentation Day assembly, photos were playing on the screen before we began. They captured something powerful: fun. Shared laughter at sports carnivals, the creativity of Book Week costumes, and the excitement of hands-on learning experiences. Sometimes we underestimate the power of fun, but at Edgeworth Public School, we know it is far more than a distraction. Fun is a catalyst for connection. It is how relationships are built, barriers are broken down, and a strong, resilient school community is formed.

Looking closer at these moments, beyond the joy and smiles, there is something even more important: a deep sense of acceptance and belonging. Our photos reflect students from all walks of life learning, playing, and growing side by side. They show children supporting one another and celebrating what makes each person unique.

This spirit of inclusion is the heartbeat of Edgeworth Public School.

We are a vibrant tapestry woven from many threads. We celebrate different abilities, recognising that every child brings their own strengths and perspectives. We embrace diverse cultures, understanding that difference enriches us all. We also honour the rich heritage of our First Nations People, Aboriginal culture, the longest living continuous culture in the world, learning from their deep connection to Country and enduring wisdom.

Our diversity, across culture, ability, background, and identity is not a challenge; it is our greatest strength.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our staff. I would like to sincerely thank our teachers, support staff, and administrative team for the kindness, care, and professionalism they demonstrate every single day. Together with our parents and carers, we share the important responsibility of modelling empathy, respect, and kindness for our students. Our children learn these values not just through words but through the example they see in us.

As the world our children are growing up in continues to change, our commitment remains strong. We will continue to work in partnership with our students, families, and community to ensure Edgeworth Public School remains a place where learning is engaging, relationships are valued, and compassion guides all we do.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank members of our community who are embarking on new chapters. We extend our sincere gratitude and best wishes to Ms Kristy Voysey, Mr Rhys Wicks, Mrs Keiran Algie, Mrs Katie Whitall, Mrs Bree Metcalfe, Mr Bailey Jackson, Miss Lara Reece, Noah, Seong, and Lylah for their valuable contributions to Edgeworth Public School.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that the world Edgeworth Public School touches is fun, accepting, and inclusive, and in doing so, a kinder place.

As we come to the end of the school year, I wish all our students, families, and staff a safe, happy, and restful holiday, and a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for your ongoing support, trust, and for sharing your wonderful children with us.

We look forward to welcoming you all back in the new school year.

Thank You to Our Volunteers

This week, Edgeworth Public School was delighted to host a Thank You Afternoon Tea to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers who support our school.

While not all of our volunteers were able to attend, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to every person who contributes their time, energy, and care to our school community. Whether assisting students in the classroom, helping at events, or supporting behind the scenes, your efforts make a meaningful difference every day.

Our volunteers play a vital role in making Edgeworth Public School a stronger, more connected community. Thank you for everything you do to support our students and our school.

Play it Forward Design Project

Our Stage 3 students recently embraced an exciting opportunity: designing a new playground for Edgeworth Public School! Working collaboratively in teams, they applied the design thinking process, incorporated feedback from our SRC survey, and sought expert guidance from playground designers, OTS, and the Department of Education.

Each team developed a 2D plan before bringing their concepts to life with a 3D model. Their designs were evaluated using a rubric, and the top eight were proudly displayed at the Playground Showcase during our Christmas Carols event.

Congratulations to Piper, Eliana, Indiya, Harper, and Leah on their winning design! They enjoyed a morning with the Austek design team, selecting colours, refining design features, and planning the next steps together.

A heartfelt thank you to Miss Kendall McCallum for leading this inspiring student voice project, giving our students a meaningful role in shaping their school environment.

Sharing the Christmas Spirt

Our Year 5 students have spread some festive cheer by sharing their Christmas artwork with the community! Their creations are currently on display at the Calvary Mater Hospital, bringing joy to patients, staff, and visitors alike.

A special thank you to Ms Jess Harris for her kind and generous initiative in coordinating this wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity and the Christmas spirit.
