The 2025 proposed SRS will be discussed at the November meeting of The Gap State High School P&C Association – 11 November 2024.
The Gap State High School operates a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) to provide parents with a cost effective alternative to purchasing textbooks and/or resources elsewhere. The scheme ensures that students have the resources required for them to engage with the curriculum for their education and saves parents time and money in sourcing the prescribed materials elsewhere. Savings are gained through the school’s bulk purchasing practices and hiring arrangements.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary, however it is a proven cost-effective way for families to provide resources for students to study in the curriculum. If you elect not to join the scheme, you will need to provide all necessary textbooks, resources and materials for your child to engage with the curriculum.
The SRS is reviewed annually to ensure resources are applicable to the current subject offerings across the year levels and to ensure we have accurate pricing (may be subject to price changes). The proposed SRS for the upcoming year is provided to the P&C Association and tabled for discussion.
An important part of the process to establish the 2022/2023 school master plan was the inclusion of input from students, families and staff about what they wanted to see more of around the school. It was clear from the responses that resources for students to use during break times was a priority and one that we endeavoured to address and as a result have purchased soccer nets and table tennis tables.
Two sets of Soccer nets are on the school oval for students to use - the uptake has exceeded our expectations with increased numbers of students participating in activities on the school oval.
With grant funding provided under the SSS Grant (Department of Education), plus funds donated by the P&C Association together with school budgeted funding, we were able to have a roof installed over two sections of the oval grandstand -- this provides much needed undercover space for students and supports the increased activities on the school oval.
The external sports courts were upgraded in 2022/23 with line marking for several sports included - the favourite being basketball which we see being played at all breaks and often before and after each school day.
Immediately the six brightly coloured table tennis tables were installed, students have been taking advantage of them and because they are spread across the school, more students are accessing them on a daily basis.
The school will continue to prioritise items raised by our community and provide resources for all students to utilise when funding is available.
