Current and Upcoming Learning
Christian Studies: Students will be presenting their research about their chosen book of the bible at the back of the church as a display. They will be looking into what other events were happening in the world at the time the book was written and creating a timeline around this.
Unit Of Inquiry: Students are in their, ‘How we Express Ourselves’ unit. Year 5s will continue looking at creativity and how they can express themselves through different forms of the arts.
Exhibition: Year 6’s are beginning to delve into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals https://sdgs.un.org/goals. We are looking to understand the goals and the issues that lie within each so that students can begin to think about the areas they would like to inquire into more deeply.
Literacy: Year 5 students will be working on creating a story based on the book, ‘Fortunately’ by Remy Charlip.
Year 6 students are looking at reading like researchers and using their inferencing skills to understand the information. We have been doing a lot of work around reflection and how to write these using the PYP language to support our inquiry. As we look at the United Nations and their Sustainable Development Goals, students are asking some great questions! Now to see answers.
Mathematics: Year 5 students have worked on adding fractions while the Year 6 students have been multiplying decimal numbers. Next week, they will be moving onto volume & capacity.
