Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Welcome back to another term!  It has been lovely to see the return of lots of happy students this week and to also welcome back those families who spent the winter up at Falls Creek.

Following the completion of the grounds works, we have been excited to show these off and we are all enjoying the ease of access in getting around.

On Tuesday, several of our Year 5 students visited the kindergarten with Ellen, to enable the children to get to know each other and to help begin those first steps towards transition for school.  During their time at the kinder, our students spent time chatting and playing alongside the kindergarten children.  Students will visit twice more over the next two weeks.

This week, we were visited by the Dental Van. The van will return again tomorrow to complete their list of registered check-ups.

Tomorrow, a number of students from Year 4, 5 and 6, will travel to Wodonga to participate in the Division Athletics.  Good luck to all these students, and many thanks to Steph for her organisation and to all families for their support with transport.

Please note that there will be no assembly tomorrow.  Our first Friday assembly will be held next week, with presentations from all classes.

This week, we were advised that one of our Year 4/5 students was nominated as a finalist in the Mount Beauty Writing Festival Competition.  As yet, no names have been publicised, so we will just need to wait for this to be announced at the presentation on Saturday!  Congratulations to all students who entered their work into the competition.  There were many excellent entries, and they can all be proud of their efforts.  In recognition of this achievement, next Wednesday those students who entered work into the writing festival, have been invited to attend the radio station, and to speak on air about their writing.

Following the successful appointment of an instrumental music teacher at Mount Beauty Secondary College, from week 3, students in Year 5 and 6 will again be able to access music lessons.  More information will be provided to students and families as this becomes available.
